Duo eyeshadow looks are one of my favorite styles to do. Using an interesting color combination can really elevate a simple smokey eye look. There is no special technique needed and you can go crazy with it – there are no rules. But there are a few combinations that work especially well and those are the ones that I´d like to share with you.
To make that a little easier for every single one of you, I put together my favorite color combinations for different eye colors. I based the shades I chose on the very simple principle of the color wheel. Opposite colors brighten each other whereas colors that lay next to each other have more of a subtle and monochrome look. Keep this in mind while browsing through my favorite duo eyeshadow looks… ♥
Blue eyes
In the color wheel, blue is opposite to red. Consequently, the way to make blue eyes pop is to use red or any other warm-toned eyeshadow.
At the moment, makeup looks with red eyeshadow are very common – especially on Instagram. This is a toned down version of many of those looks. I placed the red shadow under my eye and balanced it out with a warm shimmering brown shade on top. Then, I lined the lower waterline with burgundy kajal and faded it out slightly. On the upper waterline and the upper outer corner of the eye black kajal worked really well.

Brown eyes
Brown is the most common eye color in the world and it looks absolutely stunning with earthy and/or shimmering eyeshadows. The number of possible combinations is endless. But as the undertones of brown eyes are warm and have a hue of orange, a rich blue contrasting color is always a safe bet.
For this look, I used a warm gold eyeshadow on top with the same black liner as with the last look. On the lower lash line, I mixed light and dark blue eyeshadow and blended some turquoise liner into it.

Green eyes
I think at this point, almost everyone heard that green eyes really pop when made up with purple eyeshadow.
In this case, I used the purple eyeshadow on the lower lash line with a purple liner blended downwards from the waterline. On the lid, I actually used a blush to create a very feminine and romantic two-toned eye look. But with soft looks like this one, it is always a good idea to balance it out with dark liner in the upper waterline and dark mascara.

Grey eyes
Personally, I think that grey eyes are amazingly stunning – I really wish I had them. For the lucky ones of you that actually have them, the possibilities in terms of makeup are endless. Almost every color looks good with it as long it has a tendency to be cool-toned.
On the lower lash line, I went with classic grey eyeshadow and a dark grey liner. But the focus point of this duo eyeshadow look is the eyelid. On there, I used a burned orange eyeshadow and a black liner that I blended out upwards.
